to the Stuart Cameron McLeod Society (SCMS).

The Stuart Cameron McLeod Society (SCMS) was founded in 1934 to recognize those who served IMA and to provide an opportunity for continued friendship, fellowship, and service. Today, SCMS, also known as the Society for Continuing Member Service, continues those traditions and meets the challenges of tomorrow by funding student scholarships, supporting the Annual IMA Student Conference, and offering educational and social events for its members.

Scholarship presentation at SLC

At the recent IMA Student Leadership Conference (SLC), November 10-12, in Detroit, our president, Sheryl Elliot, presented a large replica $5,000 check to the 2015-2016 scholarship recipient, Gregory Schenk, from Utah State University.  We were given center stage, literally, to show our support for accounting students to a record audience of about 600 attendees. The SLC makes a perfect venue to showcase a central focus of the SCMS – encouraging the best and the brightest upcoming generation in our profession. We look forward to keeping in touch with Gregory and expect he will also benefit from the mentoring opportunity that comes along with a relationship with SCMS leadership.
